Rome in April
Dear Tourist,

Visiting Rome in April means tasting the city at the height of its appeal. The arrival of Spring, the blossom on the almond trees and the clear blue skies are a reawakening of life. There are initiatives in every street and square no more so than on 21 April when the city celebrates its 2762nd birthday.

At the Circus maximum to mark the occasion members of the Gruppo Storico Romano (Roman History Group) will take us back in time by evoking the story of the city’s foundation.

Further events make up part of Easter celebrations and the “week of culture”. This special week offers tourists and locals the possibility of enjoying the city’s entire historic and artistic patrimony with free entrances. Moreover you can expect to find a fantastic calendar of guided visits, shows, concerts and extended hours.

To complete the picture are two exhibitions of great interest: “The Divine Vespasian” and “Fra Angelico”. The former has been organised for the 2000th anniversary of the emperor’s birth. Vespasian was the most important figure of the Flavian dynasty and the exhibition documents him as a man, emperor and above all the father of the symbol of Rome –the Colosseum. The later has a rich selection of the early Italian Renaissance painter’s works from the most important national and foreign museums. It is on at the Capitoline Museums.

Don’t miss out!
