The story of the major events of Risorgimento Rome are told through an all-embracing selection of paintings and sculptures from the Museum of Rome and other public and private collections: from the Roman Republic of 1849, to Garibaldi’s defeat at Mentana, up until the final collapse of the Roman Catholic Church’s temporal power with the Bersaglieri troops’ capture of the capital on 20th September 1870.
The exhibition offers an opportunity to admire a number of important paintings of the age including works by Dario Querci, Carlo De Paris, Michelangelo Pacetti, Ippolito Caffi, George Housman Thomas, Gerolamo Induno, Michele Cammarano, Carlo Ademollo, Gioacchino Toma, Onorato Carlandi.
