The charge, which takes effect on 1st January 2011, is to be paid by tourists when:
- they stay in overnight accommodation (for a maximum of 10 consecutive nights). The charge is two Euros per night for camping sites, farm-inns, bed & breakfasts, holiday homes, rented rooms, holiday apartments, residences and one, two, three-star hotels; three Euros for four, five-star holidays.
- Visiting city museums (one Euro in addition to the price of admission ticket)
- they make use of several services such as sightseeing buses or cruise boats on the Tiber or bathing establishment facilities (three Euros).
The charge is to be used to guarantee better services for tourists visiting our city and in order to optimize and further the promotion of tourism.
