Rome ranks 51st in the Economist Intelligence Unit’s global city liveability rating.
The survey, based on the results of analysis of four categories (stability, healthcare, culture and environment, education and infrastructure) was carried out on one hundred and forty world metropolises, awarding each a mark ranging from 0 to 100.

Vancouver once again sits atop of the global ranking, followed by Vienna. Rome with its 89 points was positioned ahead of a number of other important metropolises such as New York, London, Prague and Moscow and was up one place from last year.

The fact that Rome won full marks (100/100) for education was a major source of satisfaction. A great result, one certainly higher than the average of 76.6 points, and, considering it also climbed one place higher than 2009, hopefully bodes well for even better things to come in 2011.
