The proposal maps out a 4,669 metre track following a course between viale dell’Arte, viale delle Tre Fontane and via di Val Fiorita. Cars travelling at an average speed of 180 km/h (110 mph) will cover it in little over 2.5 minutes.
This great sporting project that will contribute to attracting new movements of tourists and at the same time creating many new jobs. According to the estimates of the FG Group, the numbers for F1 in Rome would be: 1 billion a year in revenue generated across Italy; 160 million in private investment for the first race; 9,800 new jobs; 324,000 tourists for a total of 1.3 million visitor nights; 18 countries across all 5 continents represented; and 33 months of promotion for the city on the web.
The Formula 1 Grand Prix is one of the initiatives created as part of the capital’s Second Tourist Base, a new centre conceived to appeal to different segments of the tourism market. Next to the F1 racetrack there will be a series of parallel structures including the Fiera di Roma (Expo Centre), Palazzo dei Congressi (Congress Hall), Palazzo della Civiltà e del Lavoro (the Square Colosseum) and the Nuvola di Fuksas (futuristic monumental art).
The Mayor Gianni Alemanno expressed his satisfaction with the project and underlined that the next step to be taken as soon as possible is the formation of “a promotional committee for the candidature of the city of Rome to host a date on the FIA calendar”, which involves in the first instance the President Marrazzo of the Lazio Region and the President Zingaretti of the Provence of Rome.
