Omaggio a Roma
“Omaggio a Roma” (Ode to Rome) is a short film telling the story of Rome through image, astonishingly evocative images that have placed the city in the world’s collective memory.

The Basilica of Maxentius, like the Fountain of the Naiads, the Tiber, the Colosseum, EUR, the Theatre of Marcellus, the Arch of Titus, Santa Maria della Vittoria or the Trevi Fountain - the old and the new joining forces to tell us of a unique Rome, sublime in the new poetry of image.

The project was the idea of Vice Major, Senator Mauro Cutrufo being devised by him to promote Rome’s image to the world. It was made by Franco Zeffirelli, under whose direction are the beautiful Monica Bellucci and the acclaimed tenor Andrea Bocelli. The two narrators are dresses as Tosca e Mario, the leading characters of Giacomo Puccini’s opera.

A production of the highest quality “Omaggio a Roma” hopes to demonstrate a new way of promoting the city through contemporary language, a language that seeks to spark viewers’ imagination. It is destined to become the city’s official “business card” at the most important international film festivals in Italy and abroad.

The production has been made to re-launch the image of the Eternal City across the world and is being distributed in three different versions.
A 20 minute short film for international events and festivals.

A 3 minute version to present the city to tour operators above all during international tourism fairs.
A 30 second advert that will be broadcast across European and Worldwide TV networks, starting with the USA and Japan.
In a period of general reduction in demand, the various formats have been chosen to cover the different segments of the tourism market, therefore constituting a policy of re-launch that focuses on excellence in added value.
