From 8 December 2009 until January 2010 every part of the city, from the centre to the suburbs will be animated with great excitement: nativity scenes, music, theatre, dance, seasonal and gospel songs, contemporary art, exhibitions, actives for children, big events, Christmas lights and last but not least a unison of art, music, literature and poetry put together by the Biblioteche di Roma and the Case della cultura.

The range of museum events is vast and has been made even more accessible with late and 7 day a week opening. You will also find events and shows being staged on site.

For New Years Eve we have big names playing in the open air. Rome will bring in the New Year with a free concert at the Colosseum. The event will be hosted by Cristina Chiabotto and topping the bill will be the Roman singer par excellence Antonello Venditti.
Starting off the evening’s entertainments at 10:00 pm will be Zero Assoluto with Antonello Venditti taking the stage at 11:30. He’ll be playing songs from his latest album, “Dalla pelle al cuore" followed by many of his greatest hits from over the years. Two hours of concert with "Roma capoccia" at midnight and “Grazie Roma" to round off with. For more information www.060608.it

There are numerous events organised for unity, among which is NATALE DI SOLIDARIETA’ (A Christmas of Solidarity). It will be running from 13 December 2009 until 10 January 2010 across 20 of the capital’s parishes in the suburbs.

Moreover, ROMA INSIEME (Rome Together) is also being staged this year. From 19 December until 6 January Rome Municipal Council will be running 10 mobile units, covering the whole of the city’s jurisdiction, for the collection of food, clothing and toys destined for the less fortunate.
