The Planetarium and Astronomy Museum
The new Rome Planetarium was inaugurated on 26 May 2004 at the Museum of Roman Civilization in EUR twenty years after the vintage structure at the Sala della Minerva was closed.

In a hall of over 300 m2 and under a dome of 14 metres a perfect reproduction of the night sky is projected with the obits of the Sun, the Moon and the planets mapped out within the Zodiac, the Milky Way and all among 4500 stars.

Three digital projectors also allow for the positioning of actual missions underway in deep space in three-dimensions and in real time.

The Rome Planetarium offers a vast programme of live shows, conferences, events and star gazing for all interest groups with the aim of getting you closer to the marvels of the sky and of going deeper into their secrets.

The Astronomy Museum takes visitors on a journey from the Earth into the Universe via the broad themes of space, time and the origin of the elements with large scale models of the planets, diorama and interactive multimedia with astro videogames.

Each month has a new programme of shows. Here is August’s:
