The exhibition offers a sweeping panorama of European art from the Nazarenes to the Romantics, from Realism to Impressionism, from Symbolism to Avant-garde.

Divided into seven stylistic-cum-chronological categories spread over seven galleries flanking the Rotonda of Palazzo delle Esposizioni, the exhibition includes masterpieces by Tischbein, Koch, Corot, Monet, Degas, Renoir, Van Gogh, Cézanne, Böcklin, Feuerbach, up until Moreau, Redon, Hodler, Munch, Beckmann, Ernst, Klee, Picasso.
