The Derby
Rome's Derby, the Capitoline Derby, Campidoglio Derby, Derby del Cupolone: whatever you want to call it, Rome's Derby is one of the most awaited events in Italian football. The encounter annually arouses the sporting passions of thousands of supporters.

The two teams of the capital, SS Lazio and AS Roma were founded respectively in the post-national unity area of Prati and working class district of Testaccio. They have been fierce rivals since 1929, the year in which they competed in their first match. Today the Derby represents a true and proper event, going beyond national confines as it is prestigious on the international scene too with matches now broadcast in over 170 countries around the world.
