Awards for Rome and Italy
Our Country has won the "Best European Country" category, whilst the city of Rome has come 5th among European cities in the 2008 Readers Awards.
The two prizes were set up by The Sunday Times Travel Magazine, one of the most important English publications specialised in the tourist sector. These awards were conferred on the basis of questionnaires filled in by thousands of readers on their best and worst tourism experiences.
Another category considered, in which Italy distinguished itself, was Best European Hotels. The Hotel De Russie in Rome and the Hotel Danieli in Venice came 3rd and 5th respectively. Venice, Florence, Siena and Verona were all awarded in the category of Best European City with excellent marks.
