New Year 2009: Rome Events
The leading acts to celebrate New Year 2009

We start with one of the most symbolic and suggestive sites of the capital – the Colosseum. It’s magnificence will be moved to a long awaited concert by Gianna Nannini. Between 11:30 and 1:00 bring in the New Year with all the most famous hits of a true Italian rock star, which will without doubt including “Fotoromanza”, “Bello impossibile” and more the recent hit “Sei nell’anima”. The concert will open at 11:00 with Baustelle, the Tuscan band who set the Italian standard of Indie rock in the bel paese but the city’s programme goes far beyond its most famous monument.

In Cinecittà’s grounds there is another big concert with the Radici nel Cemento, a roman band that draws inspiration from roots-reggae; followed by the rock steady and ska of Giuliano Palma & the Blue Beaters, a band that mix the Jamaican sound with American soul.

For those of you who like to groove until the sun rises the place to be in “Amore09” at the Nouva Fiera di Roma (Rome Expo Centre). The event staged inside all 10 of the centre’s halls will be hosting internationally famous DJs Sven Vath, Ricardo Villalobos, John Digweed, Miss Kittin, Ellen Allien, Tiga, Tiefschwarz, Marco Carola, Paco Osuna, Claudio Coccoluto, Stefano Fontana and Paul Ritch, who will be banging out minimal, house electro and tech-house.
