“Tag My Museum” is an experimental project where mobile phones are at the centre of an unusual treasure hunt at Trajan’s Market – The Museum of the Imperial Forums.
With Tag technology (bi-dimensional bar codes), every visitor can take part in the game by using their own cell phone or one on-loan from the Museum’s bookshop.
The tag is “deciphered” automatically by a plug-in that reproduces content on the telephone. Every tag sends a message to the successive one generating a chain to guide visitors on a special route through the Museum. If all stops are visited correctly, a key word will be revealed that entitles the guest to win the Tag My Museum gadget.
To start the game, it is necessary to install the plug-in on your phone, which can be downloaded at the Tag My Museum kiosk located inside the Museum. The Plug-in is also downloadable from the web both in Italian and English.
The incentive is aimed at children aged 9 – 13 and is running for a 3-month trial period.
